Environmentalists were harvesting banned organic corn grown by Basque organic farmer Jon Harlouchet on Saturday, as part of a symbolic united action of the association of organic farmers from the Aquitaine region. Farmers were protesting the banning of the corn, the Agriculture ministry arguing the corn's many-hued aspect damages its commercial credibility. Farmers are to offer the harvest for sale, and declared they would use the profits to help funding the defense of anti-globalization activists facing trials after destroying genetically modified corn in France.
